Fare ye well young traveller. The west wind blows and the foreign shores call ye further more. Do not be swayed by poison ale and painted wenches, for they will smite you down against the rocky shore. In their stead, conquer thee snow capped peaks upon your board of fury,as thy are stout of heart and strong of will. Safe travels.

Germania Adventure 1.1

I've been slack and havent written in a while due to our poor intraweb provider, but it seems to be back in action, atleast for now, so the trip can continue.

Tuesday January 12th:

I awoke to see the small plane on the moniter in front of me luming now milimeters away from frankfurt,my journey was almost complete!! A sense of relief was soon flooded by a wave of nervous energy. I had waited 4 months to see my love, dreaming of being together again and now it was about to become a reality.
It was kinda scary, not in a bad way, just the anticipation of seeing each other again can create alot of "What if?" senarieos....for example...What if I walk through the gates and the look on her face is clearly saying " Ew, I waiting 4 months for that??" and vomits at the sight of me...luckily that wasn't the case but you know, what if? It can play havoc on the mind and then there's "The kiss". It's the make or break moment in any romantic reunion so there's always a high expectation of it being just perfect. Just look at any romantic comedy youv'e had to sit through (secretly enjoying), It's that "awwwww" part right at the end and it's generally accompanied by a light jog towards each other a leap into the others arms, some twirling (sweet circular panning camera angle from above) and then the best kiss ever! But of course i could only imagine...What if I run towards her and trip over my bag and knock myself out? or make it all the way to her then miss the kiss completly planting one on the nose or chin?? How awkward would that be!!!
Luckily for me as soon as I walked through the gates and saw her awaiting smile everything worked out perfect! All the "what if's" flew out the window and all that mattered was being there with her, I had reached the light at the tunnel and it was everything that I had hoped for and more!

A 2hr drive back to Lena's hometown followed, Nesteled into the backseat was a great way to take in my first view of Germany. Unfortunatley the weather wasn't on our side so my initial impression was somewhat grey but that was just at face value. The town of Ellwangen was everything I had imagined out of a small european town, Small cafe's,odd shaped/coloured buildings, there was even a town market taking place where I got to sample some of the local foods and try my luck at speaking the native tongue. I don't think they really understood what I was saying but the point and smile method seemed to get the message across.
Then it was off to meet the family, I had already met Lena's mum at the airport, she was kind enough to be our chauffer, her dad is a military man so i would be lying if i was scared but lucky for me he was super nice along with her sister who seemed to just giggle alot at my poor atempts to speak german. Then off to her grandma's where I was greated by your usual grandma treats of assorted cakes and coffee and i also met her 2 uncles who treated me to there own house blend of schnaaps. That stuff was not what I expected when I thought of schnaaps, It was super gnarly!! Mix metho, gasoline and peach and let it ferment for 3 months and thats what it tasted like...it was actually pretty good but I definatley had a few extra chest hairs afterwards. By the time all this had gone down the journey had started to take it's toll and a good nights rest was well over due, afterall the trip was just beginning! I was so stoked to finally be there and couldn't wait to see what else would unfold. Next stop MUNICH!!
